VASHI (Navi Mumbai): NMMC has relaxed the deadline given to private
schools to provide the students' database for the Unified District
Information System for Education (UDISE). Earlier, the schools were upset
that the civic education board was putting undue pressure on them by
setting a deadline (September 17-19) for submitting the detailed
database.
"Private schools need not panic as the board is still accepting the data
being submitted by the schools. A meeting is scheduled on Thursday to
discuss the need to extend the deadline, as not many schools have been
able to provide the required database," said a civic
official.
School staff has been putting in extra hours to scour through their
records and registers to assimilate the extensive database sought by the
NMMC for every student from Class I to XII. "This is the first time that
such a vast student-centric data is being sought under UDISE. Our staff
worked round the clock to accumulate data of around 8,000 students and
submit the same in three days' time," said an official from St Xaviers
High School, Nerul.
There are over 25 columns seeking information on the students' day of
admission, their general registration number, advantage taken under RTE,
Adhaar card number and so on.
The extension was essential to provide error- free data. Officials at
Apeejay School, Nerul said that they have submitted the hard copy but work
is going on for getting the soft copy ready. "Submitting so much data in
three days was not possible. The software provided for keying the data
works only on a single computer. So only one person can key in details of
all the 2,600 students, which is time consuming," said the official. |
